Day 1: Meditation + Affirmations + Journaling for Weightloss, Better Health, and Your Most Empowered Life Every Day
Everything is energy.
We exchange energy with everything and with each other.
We are energy beings in human body flesh.
Food is energy.
Thoughts are energy.
A spoon is not really a spoon therefore the spoon can be be bent (hello Matrix fans LOL – the pic was too creep to add into this blog post lesson LOL)
If that is all true, and we and everything is energy, it could also be true that we are what we eat (high vibration foods (fresh whole foods, vegetables, fruits, foods from plants and the land and sea) and low vibration foods (aka processed foods) ), we are also what we think about, in addition to the fact that energy can become blocked, stagnant, stuck, dulled down, by our past experiences and traumas. This is WHY so many people have diseases and illnesses today.
I KNOW! You are like, WHOA SHELLEY, I came here for healthy habits, getting out of a health and fitness rut, I just want to learn how to motivate myself to not be addicted to sugar and carbs, to workout when I say I will, and to stop being depressed about the fact that I have never been this heavy in my life. I want to wear skinny jeans, not have bra hang over, not have flabby arms, possibly even wear a killer bathing suit spring/summer of 2022.
AMMMMMI right?
I got you! Hang with me here.
See, our THOUGHTS create our FEELINGS and our feelings create our ACTIONS.
Example: When I was very depressed after my divorce it went like this……
Thoughts = I am SO ANGRY at Tom because ________________ and the list went on and on and on.
Feelings = Anger, resentment, bitterness, victimhood, jealousy, revenge, hatefullness, regret – all of these feelings for years, in the back subconscious dialogue of my conscious and subconscious brain every day.
Actions = Get my kids off to school, get back in bed. Or, date so many men that I forget how I’m feeling for as long as I can. Or binge eat in the pantry a tub of nutella and a spoon.
Not only did all of this BLOCK my energy, but it increased my cortisol hormone which encouraged my body to hold onto stored energy as fat, and then eating a tub of nutella specifically beyond what my body needs and stoing extra sugar and calories yes turned into stored fat too.
Consider this,
Most people get up in the morning, look at their phones, look at text, emails, news, stocks, turn on the news, look at social media, tik tok. Most people are IMMEDIATELY influenced by the outside world the moment they wake up. THEN the old record that typically runs in your ind starts running too; all the things you needs to do, what or who frustrates or angers you, why life isn’t fair, maybe its stress at work, in the home, with the responsibilities of parenting, financial issues, the feeling of not feeling in control of anything in your life and and that life is running you.
Before 7am hits, this causes feelings of already feeling stressed and hurried, then mindless eating, no eating, or binge eating and too much caffeine start to take happen.
You CAN end this and we start today with the amazing JUMPSTART Healthy Habits Challenge.
The way to UPLEVEL and elevate your mindset IS to take control, yes ______________(insert your name) TAKE THE WHEEL!!! Say it with me “(your name), take the wheel!”
Does any of this sound or feel familiar?
It happens to most everyone, UNLESS we decide to own our time, own our day, own our energy, own our mindset and take actions into our own hands and our own MINDS!
Going back to we are all energy. Well we all need fat on our bodies for our body to function properly, but an excess of fat becomes unhealthy to our internal organs, impacts our daily energy to really LIVE life, and physically it impacts us by the fact of size which becomes overweight or obesity.
There is a wonderful book called “You Can Heal Your Life” by Loise Hay – run and get this! It is a game changer!
Another great book is “Radical Forgiveness” by Colin Tipping – this book healed me from divorce and my anger or grudges toward my ex husband, my father and all of the men I have dated.
Louis Hayes says:
“Cellulite is stored anger and self-punishment”
The Affirmation: I forgive others. I forgive myself, I am free to love and enjoy life.
Shortly after, my extra weight literally came falling off. I was then convinced that extra weight is MUCH MORE than just food and exercise. I was working out DAILY and eating wellISH (minus the tubs of Nutella LOL) yet still gaining weight or the weight would not budge past 145 pounds, day in and day out, no matter what for about 12 months.
I got curious. I used myself and my own depression, anxiety, stuckness, hardships as my own best experiment to be able to help you and my future best self and all of the thousands of women who feel stuck, but really need to know that LOSING WEIGHT, LOSING FAT IS AN INSIDE JOB OF OUR MINDSET FIRST!
At first when I started incorporating mindfulness into my daily routine, I was hard. I didn’t “FEEL IT”. It felt weird, I felt weird. I didn’t really feel like it was a priority until I hit a major dark tunnel in my life and I was literally willing to do ANYTHING to help get myself through it fast! I wanted to fast track mode!
There is major scientific evidence over centuries on the power of meditation (being present in the moment), affirmations (auditory, saying the words, hearing yourself say the words and the energy vibration your thoughts and voice give off at the same time, plus affirmations train your brain, your subconscious to get with the program dude, this is where we are headed and yes its happening now), and journaling with gratitude the power of also being present as you put pen to paper and allow yourself to see your thoughts and create new thoughts at the same time while seeing what is so good about your life right now and what is amazing about YOU right now.
Like EVERY ONE of the healthy habits I will teach you to incorporate, I want you to start with BABY STEPS. We want your brain to say ” well that was easy, short, simple, felt pretty good, I could do that again”
Journaling is a fun and relaxing activity for self-care. You can journal any time to explore your emotions, de-stress, set goals, manifest your dreams, and more. Don’t overthink this activity. You only need 5 minutes. Here are a few ways to do it;
Put on a timer for 5 minutes and start……
1. Write out 5 things you are grateful for AND 5 reasons and ways that YOU and AMAZING!
2. Start writing single words for how you feel then flip to how you want to feel
3. You can use prompts such as these, pick 3-5 and write on them:
- What does your ideal body look and feel like?
- How would being at your ideal weight affect your life?
- What are your favorite ways to be active?
- What outdoor activities do you enjoy?
- Write 5 positive affirmations to support yourself in your weight loss. For example: “I am learning to love my body.”
- List your 10 favorite foods, no matter what they are.
- How can you still enjoy those foods or healthier versions of them?
- List 10 new healthy foods to try.
- Google then list 10 new recipes to try.
- Who or what else needs to be forgiven or let go of so that you can heal your body?
- What are your bad food habits and how can you begin to shift out of those habits?
- What new food habits can you create to support weight loss and better health?
- How does your physical environment affect your weight and overall health? For example; Do you live in a walkable area? What’s your job like?
- How does your social environment affect your weight and overall health? For example: How supportive is your partner, family, friends, or co-workers?
Writing in a journal is a great way to deal with stress, anxiety, and depression. All of which can affect weight and physical health. Journaling can also help you plan healthy eating habits and think of ways to have fun with fitness. It’s easier to take action when you have goals mapped out on paper, especially when it comes to weight loss.
Everyday I KNOW you can find 10-15 minutes to do these mindful practices:
Meditation 5 Minutes
Affirmations 5 Minutes (Note that you can do meditations alone AND affirmations alone – for sake of getting into the healthy habit, I worked to find ways to combine them for you to maximize time and effort. You may find you love doing them 2,3,4 times per day in little segments which give you BURSTS of good juju vibes and happiness and soothing).
Journaling 5 Minutes
In that order.
You just have to start!
I have provided for you a few 5 minute guided mediations + affirmations. Then, put on another timer and journal for 5 minutes.
